The confusion

I invited some friends to my big house because it was my birthday. My birthday is Halloween on 31st  October, so we did trick or treat in some houses. When we finished, we went home.

My parents went to a restaurant to have a dinner but we stayed at home. We watched a horror film, so we stayed all the night without sleeping and eating our sweets.

At 12 o'clock we heard some noise, like voices or steps, and we really scared so we started taking knifes, penknifes and that type of things; Finally, the noise stopped but we were still scared. We didn't understand anything.

In the end, my parents came and we told them that we heard a strange noise and they asked if it happened  at 12 o'clock and we answered, yes. They said us that probably, they were there because they came to get a sandwich. And we started to laugh.
